School Children Visit Museum

Carolyn was hostess to 36 school children and their teachers when they came to visit the museum in early October.  Mr. Marsh brought his class and Mr. Burkdoll also brought his class.

Attends KMA Convention

Carolyn and Linda attended the Kansas Museum Associations convention in Salina November 2-4, 2005.  Many seminars of interest were offered and it is our hope that our museum can benefit from the information and ideas acquired.

A Special Thank You

All of our volunteers are special and very much appreciated, as we could not operate the museum without each of you.  Thank you for your continued support.

Country Christmas Festivities

Visitors to the museum were greeted to the sound of Christmas music playing.  The museum was once again decorated with the Festival of Trees.  Winning trees were 1st place, Sandy Lewis with her dog bone tree; 2nd place, First Grade Class with hand made ornaments; 3rd place, G’s Frozen Custard & Yogart with their quarter tree; 4th place, Amy Stromgren and Brianna Strohm with their tree of kitchen utensils.

New this year was the addition of the Christmas luminaries in the windows of the museum, just as when the school children used to make them for the windows at Christmas.  We thank Marge Day, Christi Droege, Kathy Smith, Cindy Harris, Allison Droege, Brianna Strohm, Rita Scheopner and Donelda Sage for making these for us.

Our tour of homes this year featured the wonderfully decorated homes of Blair and Jennifer Ogleby, David and Annette Zerbe. Scott and Stephanie Teeselink and Martin and Nancy Quaney.  Thank you for opening your home for our tour.  Thanks also to Cecilia Berry, Christi Droege, Judy Masters and Jean Tufts, our volunteer hostesses at these homes.

The museum participated in the craft show by offering items from our gift shop along with homemade soup mixes, dessert mix  and muffin mixes.  Samples of one of the soup mixes were offered for “taste testing”.  This was a new idea this year.

Mike Fagan donated two tickets to KC Chiefs football games for two different dates to be raffled.  Winners were Tonia Hunter and Christi Droege.

Schuyler Museum Featured By First State Bank On Annual Ornament

We are happy the First State Bank has chosen the Burlingame Schuyler Museum to feature as their annual Christmas ornament.  The ornament is in 3-D and is in full color.  A photograph of this ornament can be seen on the cover page of this newsletter.  We think you will agree they did a wonderful job.

Future Plans

We have some exciting plans in store for the coming year and will give you further details as our plans progress.

Our efforts in our membership drive will continue.

A very unique veterans memorial project that we hope will create much interest and participation will be introduced.

We will explore the possibilities of becoming on the historical register.

Our genealogy department will expand with some added resources for research.

These are just a few of the areas which we have plans at this time.

Happy Holidays

We would like to wish all of our members, volunteers and friends a very happy holiday season and the very best of wishes for a wonderful new year.
