Carolyn was hostess to 36 school children and their teachers when they came to visit the museum in early October. Mr. Marsh brought his class and Mr. Burkdoll also brought his class.

Cookbook Contest
Remember our 150th anniversary cookbook from last year? It has been submitted into a cookbook contest sponsored by the Tabasco Company. Copies were sent for the entry and by the
end of the year we will be notified when we win. The top prize is $2,500.
Membership Dues

The Burlingame

All of our volunteers are special and very much appreciated, as we could not operate the museum without each of you. Thank you for your continued support.
Visitors to the museum were greeted to the
sound of Christmas music playing. The
museum was once again decorated with the Festival of Trees. Winning trees were 1st place,
Sandy Lewis with her dog bone tree; 2nd place, First Grade Class
with hand made ornaments; 3rd place, G’s Frozen Custard & Yogart with their quarter tree; 4th place, Amy
Stromgren and Brianna Strohm with their tree of kitchen utensils.
New this
year was the addition of the Christmas luminaries in the windows of the museum,
just as when the school children used to make them for the windows at
Christmas. We thank Marge Day, Christi
Droege, Kathy Smith, Cindy Harris, Allison Droege, Brianna Strohm, Rita Scheopner
and Donelda Sage for making
these for us.
Our tour of
homes this year featured the wonderfully decorated homes of Blair and Jennifer Ogleby, David and Annette Zerbe. Scott and Stephanie Teeselink and Martin
and Nancy Quaney. Thank you for opening your home for our
tour. Thanks also to Cecilia Berry,
Christi Droege, Judy Masters and Jean Tufts, our
volunteer hostesses at these homes.
The museum participated in the craft show by offering items from our gift shop along with homemade soup mixes, dessert mix and muffin mixes. Samples of one of the soup mixes were offered for “taste testing”. This was a new idea this year.
Mike Fagan donated two tickets to KC Chiefs football games for two different dates to be raffled. Winners were Tonia Hunter and Christi Droege.

Future Plans
We have some exciting plans in store for the coming year and will give you further details as our plans progress.
Our efforts in our membership drive will continue.
A very unique veterans memorial project that we hope will create much interest and participation will be introduced.
We will explore the possibilities of becoming on the historical register.
Our genealogy department will expand with some added resources for research.
These are just a few of the areas which we have plans at this time.
