We decided to have a chili and soup dinner fall fundraiser on November 5th at the annex. The menu was all you can eat chili and vegetable soup, pie, cinnamon rolls, tea and coffee.
We have the greatest volunteers who are always so generous in supporting our fundraising events. Those who helped with this one were Shirley Seastrom, Kathlene Michael, Scott & Stephanie Teeselink, Dean & Carolyn Strohm, Larry & Kathy Smith, Christi & Allison Droege, Breanna Strohm, Heidi Stromgren, Steve Koger, Linda Fagan, Jack & Karen Pickett. June Newton, June Workman, Phyllis Michaels, Jean Granger, Helen Briggs and Delores Reick.
The annual meeting of the Burlingame Historical Preservation Society was held on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, in the research room of the museum at 7:00 p.m. Election for board members was held. Linda Fagan and Stephanie Teeselink were elected for a two-year term. The third position was not filled by neither write-in candidate nor nominations from the floor.
We are pleased to have received several additional submissions to the memorial since the last newsletter. The memorial is available for viewing in the genealogy research room at the museum.
Several of our members are veterans and have not yet participated in the memorial. We hope you will submit your information so you too can be included.
December 2nd was Burlingame’s Country Christmas celebration. BHPS sponsored the annual Christmas Home Tour. Old St. Nick was at the ballroom at the Shepard Hotel for pictures. He had quite a number of visitors and was blinking lots of dots from all the pictures.
A drawing was held before the parade for our fundraiser of three tickets to the KC Chiefs football game on December 31st. The winner of the tickets was Deloris Kelch of Eskridge.

As a highlight for the museum during the Christmas season, we were more than just a little excited when Dana Davis from KTKA television station in Topeka filmed a segment featuring the museum that was broadcast Wednesday, December 13th. Dana interviewed our president, Carolyn Strohm, and several of the displays at the museum were shown. We are happy for the exposure of the museum.
If you missed seeing it or live out of the KTKA viewing area, you may view it on the Internet by going to
